Less tool, more writing
My previous setup had everything: galleries, embeds, analytics, pop-ups, AI assistants. It looked impressive and felt exhausting. I spent more time tuning the tool than using it.
Scrawl is the opposite by design. Sepia in the light, pitch black at night. One column. No likes, no follower counts, no ads.
What I kept
- Quick posts — tweet-sized thoughts, no title, publish instantly
- Long-form articles — headings, lists, quotes, code, draft support
- Threaded comments with approval — conversation stays kind
When the tool does less, you do more. That's not a limitation. It's the feature.
I moved a decade of writing in an afternoon. The Markdown export meant zero lock-in. The PWA means it works offline — the writing never waits for signal.
